DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORT WORKER

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM (F004)

LOCATION: Yonge/Bloor

Parking: Staff parking available & easy access to TTC

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Provide life skills support to adults with physical disabilities to achieve their goals
  • Provide personal support services (i.e., activities of daily living, lifts/transfers, bowel/bladder routines, dressing/undressing, skin care, respiration, meals/drinks, general hygiene) to clients in their homes
  • Be part of the UNIFOR union

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • A passion for providing exceptional personal support services to male clients
  • Ability to lift and transfer clients
  • Manages time in co-operation with clients to complete tasks
  • Ability to accept direction from client's regarding services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution and judgment skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with others
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 computer skills (Outlook, Word)

Qualifications:

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Post secondary degree/diploma in Developmental Service Worker (DSW) 
  • PSW certificate from an accredited Ministry of Health School will be an asset

     Or 

  • Post secondary degree/diploma in human services and/or other healthcare related field of study
  • Plus two (2) years’ experience teaching daily living skills to adults with physical disabilities and augmentative communication requirements
  • PSW certificate from an accredited Ministry of Health School will be an asset
  • Proof of First Aid and CPR certificate 
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Person)

WHAT HOURS YOU’LL WORK totaling 32 hours per week:

  • Monday:  7:30 AM –3:30 PM
  • Tuesday:  7:30 AM –3:30 PM
  • Wednesday:  OFF
  • Thursday:  OFF
  • Friday:  OFF
  • Saturday:  7:30 AM –3:30 PM
  • Sunday: 7:30 AM –3:30 PM
